First-day cover «Swiss Post’s commitment to art»
Picture 1 of 1
Is it a tree or an organic structure? Artist Mirko Baselgia based his stamp design on the image of a trachea turned upside down. Starting from this original form, he sketched the contours of an imaginary tree, an image symbolizing the mutual dependency between plants, animals and people. The inks for the original work entitled “re-respirar” were produced by the artist himself from a collection of walnuts and buckthorn berries and exhaled onto hemp paper using his own breath. The stamp was created as part of Swiss Post’s commitment to art. Find out more fascinating background information on Swiss Post’s commitment to art www.swisspost.ch/commitment-to-art.
