The Swiss Wrestling and Alpine Festival 2025 Glarnerland+ will take place from 29 to 31 August 2025. The Glarnerland will be hosting for the first time in the 130-year history of the Federal Wrestling Association. Over the three days of the event, around 270 participating wrestlers, 70 stone putters as well as some 350,000 visitors are expected at the 70-hectare festival grounds of the largest sporting event in Switzerland. A certain item of clothing is essential: the Edelweiss shirt. It was originally a work shirt. Starting in the 1970s, it then found its way into wrestling because of its sturdy yet soft texture. The original fabric is woven from double-threaded yarn, known as a corded thread, making it particularly sturdy.
